Frankenstein is not the creature but the creator !

                                                                       frankenstein

Frankenstein is a Gothic novel published in 1818 by Mary Shelley. The full title of this novel is Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus. Frankenstein is the story of Victor Frankeistein creating a monster : the Creature. This monster became crazy because of torments of life. He searched during all his life Victor Frankenstein to kill him.

Homework :

I] Say all you can about Prometheus and in particular:

1- His relationship with Zeus :

Zeus instructed Prometheus, the titan, how to create mankind.

2- The theft ( justify ) :

Prometheus stole fire from Zeus because he began to care for humans. He wanted to give them warmth.

3- His punishment :

Zeus' punishment was to tie Prometheus to a mountain. Every day an eagle came and ate Prometheus' regenerating liver. It is an endless and infinite punishment.

4- Pandora's box :

Zeus gave Prometheus' brother a wife. Her name was Pandora, who owned a box that was no supposed to be opened. But Pandora didn't resist to the temptation and when she opened this box, chaos and suffering was provoked on earth.

II] Focus on "The Modern Prometheus", the subtitle of Mary Shelley's Frankestein :

1- Reason for subtitling her novel like this :

Mary Shelley had subtitled her novel like that because Victor Frenkeistein stole the power to create human life from the Creator God ; like Prometheus stole the sacred Fire from Zeus.

2- Reason for comparing the creature with Adam :

The Creature is compared to Adam because he is the first of his kind, indeed he's the first Creature not created by God and Adam was the first human. He has been also bannished by his creator : Victor Frenkeistein, like Adam, but him, it was by God.

Good job again...<br /> <br /> Mind the translation of 'pour faire' like 'pour tuer'...<br /> I suggest that you should use an expression such s 'to +V' or 'in order to +V'<br /> <br /> Bye for now<br /> <br /> Best<br /> <br /> Mr.Heiser.
